Mountain stage par excellence! Allez! Allez! Allez!

Each time, I drive faster to the summit. It is advisable not to go full throttle at the beginning. The big end comes last... Drinks and some food await the finisher at the top!

⚠️ A little tip: pack a light windbreaker with you. It can get pretty cold on the descent. And be sure to watch out for the cars pulling out of the parking lot!!

  • The absolute highlight with the racing bike. Really exhausting, but it's worth it, because you can't get any higher in the Rhein-Main area.

  • Every year since 1962 the big ones are riding here. If you drive racing bicycles in this region, you have to go up here too.

  • So for everyone who wants to know it has to go up here ... In all of Hesse an absolute highlite .. But you should watch out for the traffic and it is best to leave very early or up on not so nice days! WARNING VERY DANGEROUS THIS ROUTE !!

  • Very nice climb, especially for drivers who are not mountain fleas.

  • The ultimate "highlight" spot for a proof photo. If you didn't take a photo of anything up here, your activity probably didn't take place either. At least that's what it looks like if you are up here for 5 minutes. stop at the bus stop and just watch the hustle and bustle of the arriving and departing bikers. Psychologists would have fun with it - hope you do too :-)

  • The ascent extends over about 10 km with an average of 4.8%. At the beginning it is a bit more moderate - the closer you get to the "summit" the steeper it gets - up to about 8% - but it's fun to drive up. The road is good - but if there is traffic, you have to be careful

  • @ frankfaehrt Fahrrad: It is best to cycle here during the week outside of the holiday season, when there is almost nothing going on. On Sundays the tourists romp around here. So not "even on Sundays" but "especially on Sundays".

  • Nice steady climb at the end a little steeper

  • Yes it is really a nice tour/segment. However, I have to disagree with @Jochen. The traffic is quite heavy at times, at least until the sand is paved. It is best to drive early or late. Certainly not in rush hour. The section from Sandplacken to the summit is then a little quieter.

  • The climb itself is very nice to drive. Even gradient without hard ramps. What's annoying: Busy car and bus traffic even on Sundays.

  • From Oberursel a very pleasant climb.
If you like it a little harder, drive up via Königsstein and Billtahlhöhe.
As already mentioned, you should always pay attention to the temperature difference. I'm already half frozen on the descent because I only had a wind vest with me.
Unfortunately, there is a lot of traffic, especially on the weekends.

  • Always a nice destination. Note the temperature difference!

  • Very nice to drive. Hardly any traffic, even on weekends. Roads all well done and without holes or the like until the end.
A lot of cyclists on the way but you have enough space.

  • In itself: Very nice route, steady increase.
Terrible: car and bus traffic, even on Sundays.

  • Often windy and much cooler than in the valley!
    But a nice view.
And there is a restaurant up here too. :-)

  • Nice long (11km) climb

    translated byView Original
    • May 2, 2023

  • Long climb - 10 to 11 km, about 4.8% on average. A bit wrong at the beginning of Oberursel, later it gets a bit steeper.
The descent towards Königsstein is significantly steeper at up to 11% and there are a few curves to negotiate.
Always keep an eye on other road users.
