The Society of the Good Death, founded in 1570 to provide a dignified burial for the destitute and bodies found on public roads, sponsored the construction of the church starting in 1575. The work, carried out by Bino Sozi to a design by Vincenzo Danti, lasted until after 1600. A restoration of the church of the Society of the Good Death was carried out in 2005.
