The Water Court, consisting of eight judges dressed in black, meets every Thursday (except on public holidays and between Christmas and Epiphany) at noon in front of the Apostles' Portal of Valencia Cathedral in the Plaza de la Virgen.

Its origins date back to the Arab period around 960 AD and have existed continuously since then.

Disputes among farmers and landowners in the surrounding countryside (huerta) regarding the irrigation of fields are settled.
