The Basilica dedicated to the Patroness of the city, which is the most important religious building in Valencia during the 17th century and, at the same time, the first baroque new construction. The Basilica was built between 1652 and 1667 by Diego Martínez Ponce de Urrana, and has three important aspects: It is the only church in the old part of the city that was not built on top of a former parish church or monastery, it is a new work.
