The Regional Nature Reserve of the Mouth of the Isonzo, located in the eastern part of the Friuli Venezia Giulia region along the last stretch of the river of the same name, extends over an area included in the municipalities of Staranzano, San Canzian d'Isonzo, Fiumicello and Grado and covers an area of 2,338 hectares, 1,154 of which are marine areas.

Established in 1996, it largely coincides with the ZSC/ZPSS "Foce dell'Isonzo - Isola della Cona" IT3330005. The symbol of the Reserve is the Eurasian Curlew.
