Areal natural monument (FND) from January 1988 says: "The former quarry" Neuer Kratzert ", now" Protected area rock nest ", is an area of special quality and it is unique in the Eberbach area in this quality."Two landscape elements meet on an area of only 1.2 ha, each of which has a special attraction for many people: rock and water. Behind 1,100 m2 of water, which is composed of three ponds, the 30 m high rock of the former mining wall is piled up.The banks of the ponds have a broad transition zone consisting of rushes, reeds, cattails and willow bushes. Seven of the 19 native amphibian species nationwide have found a retreat in the rock nest. The rock face offers breeding grounds for rare bird species.In order to ensure the high quality of the biotope, a series of regular maintenance measures is necessary. First you can see the small lake below the rock wall, which stretches majestically above into the sky. The only tracks Mam sees are those of Wild! Man does not seem to have broken anything here yet! We hope that this natural monument will be preserved for a long time!
