Areal natural monument (FND) from January 1988 says: "The former quarry" Neuer Kratzert ", now" Protected area rock nest ", is an area of special quality and it is unique in the Eberbach area in this quality."Two landscape elements meet on an area of only 1.2 ha, each of which has a special attraction for many people: rock and water. Behind 1,100 m2 of water, which is composed of three ponds, the 30 m high rock of the former mining wall is piled up.The banks of the ponds have a broad transition zone consisting of rushes, reeds, cattails and willow bushes. The rock nest has been a natural monument since 1988. It is a former quarry on Itterberg, in which sandstone was mined from 1933 to 1970.

The restoration of the area began in 1972 on the initiative of conservationists. Among other things, three ponds with a total water area of over 1,000 square meters were created. The site has been left to NABU to look after since 1977. (Felsennest.itterberg.de)

If it rained enough you can even see a waterfall. Otherwise, this is definitely a beautiful spot on this earth 😊

First you can see the small lake below the rock wall, which stretches majestically above into the sky. The only tracks Mam sees are those of Wild! Man does not seem to have broken anything here yet! We hope that this natural monument will be preserved for a long time!

Looked at the frozen waterfall today when the temperature is below zero, a worthwhile goal even in winter.

Looks like an old quarry - in front of it a wetland. The area is under nature protection - entry prohibited.
