The northeastern high point on the Cadair Idris massif, Mynydd Moel sees a fraction of the footfall of the main Penygadair summit. However, it's a wonderful place to gaze out across the Harlech Dome towards the Rhinogs and the famous peaks of northern Snowdonia.

Hiking

At 863 metres, Mynydd Moel is a UK-recognised Nuttall, along with nearby Cadair Idris and Gau Graig. It lies on the eastern flank of Cadair Idris and sits on the normal classic loop of Cader Idris. It is a super nice summit to do coming from Cadair Idris, being just a relatively flat amble eastwards across the plateau. You have fine views northwards towards Dolgellau and the Rhinogs from here.

A much quieter peak than Cadair Idris, but the views are just as good. This should be added to any of the routes going up to Cadair.
