Since 1905, there is a permanent church building in the center of Veddel's Elbe Island. The present church with parish hall and garden was built in 1954.

The Evangelical Lutheran Immanuel Church in Hamburg-Veddel belongs to and serves a parish of the Northern Church. The building was built in 1905 according to the plans of the architect Hugo Groothoff by the company Friedrich Holst from Steinwerder as general contractor. The construction costs for the originally neo-Gothic church with parsonage amounted to 125,551 marks without fittings. After the destruction of the Second World War in 1944, the church building was rebuilt in a simplified form by the architect Hermann Schöne in 1953–54, incorporating the old foundation.
