The Zuidpark, formerly the filled-in Zuiderdokken, is a multifunctional park that offers a mix of green space and recreation. The park is built in layers with spring and autumn flowers, perennials, shrubs and trees, with mainly native species chosen to promote biodiversity.
The park also includes large lawns, water basins, playgrounds, sports fields and communal gardens. In addition, underground parking garages have been constructed to provide parking spaces without obstructing the green space.
The Zuidpark is a lively and green oasis in the city, which is accessible in the evening thanks to multifunctional lighting.

Hiking

The Gedempte Zuiderdokken together formed an elongated square in the south of Antwerp, parallel to the Scheldt bank. It is a beautiful open space that was mainly used as a huge parking lot. That is useful, because parking space is needed in the city. But it is also a missed opportunity. That is why this zone is being transformed into a park with 2 underground parking lots: the Zuidpark.
