With its stately half-timbered houses, it was once praised as "Württemberg's most beautiful village street". After the village was renovated, it deserves this honorary title again today.
Late medieval to baroque farmsteads stand close together along the traffic-calmed street. The namesake Carl Schmincke was the last mayor of the municipality, which was independent until 1938. After the Second World War, he was elected mayor of the twin town of Leonberg-Eltingen.
