The lynx enclosure is a real highlight of every tour. The reintroduction project in the Harz Mountains is one of the flagship projects in Germany: between 2000 and 2006, a total of 24 lynx were released from here. At the enclosure on the Rabenklippe you can find out more about the project and attend a public feeding on Wednesdays and Saturdays (2:30 p.m.). If the lynx is shy and hiding, binoculars could help you!

In the wild, lynxes are usually very shy animals. Here you can watch them climb trees, sneak around the area or just laze around. The public feeding is a highlight!

Rarely seen even in the cage, but we were lucky enough to see Pamina.

Lynx enclosure on the Raven Cliffs
Face to face with the lynx
The brush ears are back in the Harz forests. But they are - like all cats - very shy. So anyone who sees them in the wild is a real lucky guy. So that everyone can admire them, we have built a lynx show enclosure on the Rabenklippe near Bad Harzburg. Here you can watch the lynx Pamina, Paul, Alice, Ellen and Tamino basking in the sun, climbing around trees or sneaking through their territory.

Our public lynx feeding is particularly popular. Here you can find out interesting facts about the lynx from our national park staff and watch the big cats up close while they are eating.

After a visit to the lynx enclosure, the nearby national park forest restaurant Rabenklippe not only offers refreshments, but also one of the most beautiful views over the Eckertal and the Brocken. Source: nationalpark-harz.de/de/natur-erleben/luchsgehege/#Luchsschaugehege

At the lynx enclosure, it really pays to stay a moment longer and look out for the beautiful animals. If you are plagued by hunger, you can enjoy the view of the enclosure or the impressive nature in the Restaurant Rabenklippe just a few steps further.

The lynx enclosure is less than 4 km from the mountain station at the Burgberg (Bad Harzburg) and is located near the Waldgaststätte Rabenklippe. Since Wednesday and Saturday 14.30 clock the feeding takes place, the lynx were already 13.00 clock curious and were seen. In sunshine I recommend to take the way back above, because the Kaltenalstraße runs completely in the shade.

The stamp office HWN 170 is easily hidden, if you come from the lynx enclosure. You have to go through the inn on the opposite side! There is the stamp box outside

From the observation form you can look over the fence. Now only one of the lynx has to be seen

The lynx release project has been dealing with the Harz for several years. That's why you can always find lynx photo traps or information offers, like this lynx enclosure. If you want to know more, just drop in at a public performance: every Saturday at 14:30!

Fantastic animals that can be observed up close. You have an even better view through the small tower that is accessible

I always thought lynxes are a bit bigger than domestic cats - but that's not true. They have an average shoulder height of about 60 cm and weigh about 20 kg.
