Nationalpark Harz

Der Nationalpark Harz ist einer der größten deutschen Waldnationalparke und der erste länderübergreifende Nationalpark Deutschlands. 97 Prozent der Nationalparkfläche sind mit Wald bedeckt. Mit nahezu 25.000 Hektar Fläche nimmt er rund 10 Prozent der Gesamtfläche des Harzes ein. Wie in den Nationalparken weltweit darf sich die Natur auch im Nationalpark Harz weitgehend frei von menschlichem Einfluss entwickeln. Es gilt das Motto: „Natur Natur sein lassen“. Buchen- und Fichtenwälder, subalpine Zwergstrauchheiden, Moore und Felsbiotope bieten Rückzugsgebiete für über 10.000 z.T. seltene Tier- und Pflanzenarten.
