The Eckertalsperre is the stamp office 001 of the Harzer hiking nobility and also belongs to the Harzer Grenzweg. No wonder, the former border post stands in the middle of the dam.

In my opinion, the Eckerstausee is the most beautiful in the whole Harz. Here you should definitely take some time to linger on one of the benches.

At this point, there is the stamp of the Harzer hiking nobility with the number 'one'. Since you are officially not allowed to drive by car to the dam, this is not 'overrun'. ;)

At the time of the German division, the border ran exactly through the dam. The GDR border post is still preserved.

The inner German border divided the Eckertal dam and the reservoir in the middle. This led to copious problems in management and maintenance. The former boundary post is preserved and stands on a small ledge of the dam. - From today's perspective, this is just curious.

Beautiful reservoir, easy to reach from the Taternbruch (Radauer Wasserfall) and a central starting point for various hikes.

The benches on the trail offer great views of the reservoir, pause on the way back there and enjoy the evening sun - just pure relaxation.

There is a trough with the water of the Eckerntalsperre on the way from the dam in the direction of Molkenhaus. The cool wet refreshed.

The view over the reservoir on the chunks you should enjoy.

Unique memory of the German division. The border leaves centrally through the Eckertalsperre

Extremely beautiful and uncrowded dam with a unique historical background. You can almost completely circle the dam on pleasant paths. On the way there are at least 5 really nice picnic areas with a bench and a great view of the water and chunks.

The Eckertalsperre is very idyllic and fortunately not crowded. On a beautiful circumnavigation you will pass at least 5 great picnic areas with a bench and a great view of the water and chunks as well as the historically interesting dam.

The Eckertalsperre was chosen by the Harzer hiking nobility as the most beautiful stamp place in 2007. In connection with the German unity a worth seeing goal with a hike. Against forgetting.

The dam provides a fantastic view over the reservoir and on it is the former border between West and East Germany.

A piece of German history. Here through the Eckertalsperre and on the dam wall ran the former inner German border. The boundary post on the wall is still preserved.
