The so-called "Peace Forest" in the Rodenkirchen district of Cologne, right next to the "Forest Botanical Garden", is not only interesting for gardening fans because of the large number of different trees, but also the idea associated with the establishment of a tree from many countries around the world quasi as a "peace ambassador" - to be planted here.

In the south of the Forstbotan garden, the 20-hectare peace forest, created in the 1980s, joins. Designed as a recreational area, it consists of huge meadow areas, circular paths and many small connecting routes criss-crossing the complex. In the middle of the meadow open area, at the edge of an artificial sand hollow (a play paradise for children) rises the area like a hill. Under the turf that has grown over decades, as in several parts of the city (Herkulesberg etc.), there is the wartime debris of yesteryear. Adjacent deciduous and coniferous forests, in which trees and shrubs from many states, to which the Federal Republic used to have diplomatic relations at that time and today, surround the area. The species of tropical and subtropical countries, whose typical vegetation is not hardy here, are represented by symbolic trees. Source Wikipedia
