The lighthouse Darßer Ort at the northwestern tip of the peninsula Fischland-Darß-Zingst was built in 1848 and is still in operation today. It is just over 35 meters high and is one of the oldest on the German Baltic coast.

The lighthouse Darßer Ort was completed in the autumn of 1848 and put into operation a little later. He is - after the "Schinkel Tower" on Cape Arkona - the second oldest lighthouse on the coast of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and at the same time the oldest, which is still operated there today. There is nothing to add to the history and significance of Darßer Ort. This place is also a destination by excellence. One should not be surprised if it is a bit full in summer. Not everyone visits the museum or goes to the lighthouse, but everyone goes to the beach. Those who want to be lonelier, the small or large circuit on the Darßer place know, there you can rather admire the nature of this incredible area with more peace.

The lighthouse was built as a round building from 1847-1848 red brick and taken on 1 January 1849 in operation. The trial run since November 16, 1848. Next to the tower a guard house was built. The lighthouse is one of the oldest on the German Baltic coast. It is 35.4 m high, the headlamp lens-reinforced fire is located at a height of 33 m. Since 1936 the fire is operated electrically. It has the characteristic Fl (2 + 4) W 22s, which means two and four flashes every twenty two seconds. The range of the light is 23 nautical miles. Since 1978, the lighthouse is operated remotely. After the closure of the border on 13 August 1961, access to the lighthouse was blocked in 1962. Only since March 1995 visitors can again climb the 134 steps to the viewing platform. The lighthouse counts more than 100,000 visitors a year.
At the foot of the lighthouse is theNatureum, a branch of the German Maritime Museum Stralsund.

The entire area of Darßer Ortes can only be reached on foot, by bicycle or by horse-drawn carriage from Prerow. Car traffic is only to a very limited extent reserved for the national park administration. Tourist destinations at the Darßer place are the Natureum, a branch of the Sea Museum Stralsund, and built in 1847/1848 and 35 meters high lighthouse, which can be climbed at certain times. The beautiful nature of the relatively "young" country and the almost untouched beaches are accessible on a circular route.
