The exhibition in the Natureum is absolutely worth seeing. Access to the lighthouse is only possible via this.

From the lighthouse Darßer Ort you have a magnificent view over the unique landscape. The tower is 35 meters high, the viewing platform is at 28 meters. The red brick lighthouse was built in 1848. It is considered to be the oldest lighthouse still in operation on the coast of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
The lighthouse has a museum, the Natureum. There you will learn interesting facts about the flora and fauna in the region and the coastal dynamics.

The lighthouse is thus one of the oldest on the German Baltic coast. It is 35.4 m high, the headlight lens reinforced fire is located at a height of 33 m. The range of the light is 23 nautical miles (1 nm = 1.852 km). Since 1978, the lighthouse is operated remotely. To get to the viewing platform you have to climb 134 steps. At the foot of the lighthouse is the Natureum with a small aquarium. The construction of the beacon was decided by King Frederick William II on May 16, 1845 by cabinet order, the construction started in the spring of 1847, ended in November 1848. On January 1, 1849, the commissioning followed. For the entire Leuchtturmgehöft one built 243800 bricks, 1720 shaped stones and 320 Dachsteine.
