From the lighthouse Darßer Ort you have a magnificent view over the unique landscape. The tower is 35 meters high, the observation deck is located at 28 meters. In 1848, the red brick lighthouse was built. It is considered the oldest still in operation lighthouse on the coast in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

The lighthouse has a museum, the Natureum. There you will learn interesting facts about flora and fauna in the region and the coastal dynamics. From May to October you can visit the museum and the lighthouse daily from 10am. In the winter months, the doors are open Wednesday to Sunday from 11 clock. Admission is 5 euros. You can also read all the information here: natureum-darss.de.

The lighthouse is a great destination for walking or cycling. If you want to go up to the tower there or have a rest in the cafe, you must first enter the museum. These three are one unit and can not be used separately. So take food or pay admission. The nearby beach is not quite as crowded in summer as the others.

Not just for hikers. Even as a cyclist, there is much to discover here. The lighthouse can be reached on foot, by bike or even by horse-drawn carriage. It is worth to explore the tower.
In the summer determines more pleasant to explore. Unfortunately we had rain and a stiff breeze that made the wind even colder. Otherwise very nice beach. Explore him!

Old lighthouses on the coast are always fascinating. And this red brick is still in a special place. The interplay of lighthouse and nature is unique here.

The lighthouse is thus one of the oldest on the German Baltic coast. It is 35.4 m high, the headlight lens reinforced fire is located at a height of 33 m. The range of the light is 23 nautical miles (1 nm = 1.852 km). Since 1978, the lighthouse is operated remotely. To get to the viewing platform you have to climb 134 steps. At the foot of the lighthouse is the Natureum with a small aquarium. The construction of the beacon was decided by King Frederick William II on May 16, 1845 by cabinet order, the construction started in the spring of 1847, ended in November 1848. On January 1, 1849, the commissioning followed. For the entire Leuchtturmgehöft one built 243800 bricks, 1720 shaped stones and 320 Dachsteine.

The photos speak for themselves. Who has reached the lighthouse, whether on foot or by bike, goes to the beach. This place has its own magic and the further you go from the tower, the more lonely it becomes.

Too bad but worth mentioning: the restaurant is in the Natureum. This means that even if you only want to eat after a hike, you have to pay once.

Northwest of Ahrenshoop extends to the northernmost point of the peninsula Fischland-Darß-Zingst, the Darßer place, the so-called West beach. The fine sandy beach, bordering on the Darßwald, offers a delightful combination of a maritime atmosphere with unspoiled naturalness on a length of around 14 kilometers. Here you will discover wild plants, fallen trees and natural dunes. The entire beach area is also approved as nudist beach. Even dogs can walk here all year without restriction.

The Daßer place is a special place in the national park. A landscape full of dynamism and fantastically beautiful. We went the way with a ranger. Which again gives a very different view of this place. Information about the tour, is available in the tourist information.

Great place - the adjacent museum with a small outdoor area are interesting. The lighthouse is part of the museum - so if you want to go up high you can visit the museum.

A little unfortunate, I find that to visit the café a ticket for the museum or lighthouse must be purchased.

The Darßer Ort is located in the Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft National Park. This place has it all. The lighthouse, the beach, the bay and the forest. There is hardly a place that unites this in the smallest space. In the summer there is always full in good weather, but who wants to be lonelier, takes time for the circular walk. A paradise for bird lovers.

The view from the lighthouse is fantastic. The small museum is a branch office, from the Meersmuseum Stralsund. A visit is recommended.

The lighthouse is part of the NATUREUM and can be visited. Please note the opening times: In low season, the system is not open every day.
