In 1656, the ducal authorities granted three applicants from Tabarz permission to build a sawmill here on the Bromacker "uff Major Butlars Wiese" in return for an annual hereditary rent of 10 fl. The operators built a wooden bridge over the Apfelstädt to provide access to the mill property.
