Remains of a Siegfried Line bunker, built around 1937-1939 (the entire Siegfried Line was built in 15 months to 1939). The Schiess-Scharte is still well preserved.

There are hundreds of these blown up bunkers along the Rhine. They belonged to Hitler's "West Wall". This one is right next to the path on the dam at the ford of the section of the old Rhine called Gäns-Rhein. When the water is high, it is therefore not possible to continue to the Rhine.
