Thus, the Rudolstadt market square in its area since the 16th century has not been changed. There was always a well in the middle of the square. It used to be made of wood. This was replaced in 1859 by a stone fountain. The market square is ideal for large events. Sometimes a stage is set up for this purpose. At the big weekly market, which takes place every Wednesday, dealers from near and far offer their goods for sale.

But it can be not only tranquil and quiet here, but sometimes it's a real spectacle: at the folk festival! I've added some photos from July 7th, 2019
The annual festival in July would be worth treating as a highlight in its own right. Highly recommended! And we were only in the center and not on the other stages in the city. There are several main stages with announced acts, but also concerts in backyards. And great street music everywhere - but not run-of-the-mill, but absolutely professional and impressive.
