The Molina de la Albolafia is a historic water mill on the Guadalquivir River. It is located very close to the Puente Romano and is one of the city's symbols. The mill is an iconic element of Córdoba and even appears on the city's coat of arms, underlining its historical and cultural importance. It was built in the time of Abd al-Rahman II to channel water from the river to the palace of the emirs through an ingenious aqueduct.

After the Christian reconquest, the mill was modernized in the 14th century. Legend has it that Queen Isabella of Castile shut down the mill because the noise of the water wheel bothered her. The wheel was once of great importance for irrigating the royal gardens and supplying the city with water. Today, however, it is purely a monument. Worth seeing!

The Molino de la Albolafia is located very close to the Roman bridge and on the right bank of the Guadalquivir. It was built by Abd al-Rahman II to bring water from the river to the emirs' palace via an ingenious aqueduct.

The mill has a restored naura or water wheel, which was originally ordered to be dismantled by Queen Isabella La Católica because of the noise it produced near the Alcázar, the royal residence. This mill has been part of the city's coat of arms since the fourteenth century.
