At the fountain, please take yourself back to the time of 1730. The monastery had not existed for over 150 years. The Margraves of Brandenburg-Ansbach and Brandenburg-Bayreuth now run a princely school in its rooms.

100 boys from the territories of the two princes live here at state expense. The students are medically cared for by Dr. Feuerlein. This doctor is firmly convinced that the monks must have meant a mineral spring when they gave their name. Together with the local priest Hocker and the monastery administrator Bernhold, he succeeds in convincing Margrave Carl Wilhelm Friedrich of the existence of a healing spring. For a while, people took cures here, the Margrave even had a half-timbered building built over the spring and he himself obtained large quantities of water from Heilsbronn

According to Feuerlein, the water was supposed to be effective in cases of stone problems, foot, eye, chest and stomach problems, intermittent fever, rashes, epilepsy, worms and strokes. After just three years of the healing spring's existence, complaints were heard about a decrease in the frequency of use; five years later, the low effectiveness was explained as being due to spills and after a few decades, the spa operation had come to a complete standstill.

In 1578, the last monk died and the margraves, as patrons of the monastery, became heirs to the entire property. The margrave appointed a monastery administrator to manage the property between the Main and the Danube. He collected the income as the monastery had done before.
