The statue of the Prussian Chancellor Karl August Prince von Hardenberg (1750-1822) is located on Niederkirchner Strasse in front of the Berlin House of Representatives (formerly the Prussian State Parliament).
The 2.80 m high bronze sculpture was created in the years 1904-1907 by Martin Götze in the style of realism. It shows the Prussian statesman and reformer Karl August von Hardenberg in a dignified pose. He wears the Order of the Black Eagle on his vest. His left hand is resting on his hip, his right hand is holding a file. At his feet are further files, one of which is entitled Legal Equality. On the multi-level granite base, two bronze reliefs show the coat of arms of Prince von Hardenberg and the inscription "HARDENBERG / 1750-1822".
The Hardenberg monument was originally erected in 1907 on Dönhoffplatz, where it formed an ensemble with the larger stone monument. After the Second World War, its trace was lost until it was reconstructed in 2005 based on Götze's model from the Hardenberg family's possession.
Since 2011, the Hardenberg monument has been located to the right of the Prussian State Parliament, the seat of the Berlin House of Representatives.
