St James’s Park is the oldest Royal Park in London and features a large lake that is a sanctuary for ducks, geese, swans, and pelicans. The park includes The Mall and Guards Parade and is surrounded by iconic landmarks such as Buckingham Palace, Clarence House and Whitehall. Walking around the beautifully maintained gardens is a treat at any time of year.

St. James's Park is the oldest royal park in London. Centrally located in the City of Westminster, Buckingham Palace and Downing Street are nearby. And the Ferris wheel London Eye is also within sight.

In the middle of the park is a lake with two islands, Duck Island and West Iceland. On the bridge over the lake you have a good view of the Buckingham Palace which is framed by fountains and trees.

St. James's Park is the eastern end of a long strip of greenery through the center of London from Green Park via Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens to St. James's Park.

It used to be swampy marshland. In 1532 Henry VIII bought the area and turned it into a hunting ground. King Charles II made the park public, in 1837 the lake was built.
