The building is the former Nowawes Town Hall, which was inaugurated in January 1900. In 1924 Nowawes received city rights. In April 1938 Neu-Babelsberg was incorporated and renamed the city in Babelsberg. One year later, in April 1939 the incorporation took place to Potsdam, whereby the city hall lost its function. In August 1956, the town hall is converted into a clubhouse. Today it is called Kulturhaus Babelsberg.

Built in 1998-1900 as the town hall of the municipality of Nowawes, which also received city rights in 1924. With the merger with the villa settlement Neu-Babelsberg, the city name was changed to Babelsberg. A year later, the city of Babelsberg was incorporated into Potsdam. Since then, the town hall building has served various administrative and cultural purposes.
