They're also in Germany, as Allied soldiers who died in their airplanes shot down, or in POW camps, are buried here in the same way as their comrades who died on battlefields in France or elsewhere. The headstones are very uniform, they just give the rank and name and the dates. Sometimes a few are closer together than others. I understand these are aircrews whose remains could not be separated.
