Wilhelm Anton Riedemann, von Riedemann since 1917 (born December 8, 1832 in Meppen, † January 20, 1920 in Lugano) was a German businessman, entrepreneur and pioneer of tanker shipping.
In 1890, Riedemann, together with Franz and Carl Schütte and the Standard Oil Company of the oil magnate John D. Rockefeller, co-founded the German-American Petroleum Society (DAPG) based in Hamburg (Esso since 1950).

Riedemann dedicated the mausoleum, designed by Martin Haller in the neo-Romanesque style, to his late 19-year-old daughter Sophie. Below the grave chapel, which can be seen from afar, there is an underground crypt with 35 burial sites. It therefore also became the final resting place for other children of the couple as well as for his brother Heinrich Nikolaus Riedemann. Wilhelm Anton Riedemann was never buried in Ohlsdorf - he had lived in Lugano since 1917 and died there.

Very impressive mausoleum on a hill. Could do with some renovation.
