The Platzl in Munich, now a charming tourist destination with traditional pubs, was a thriving red-light district until the 1970s. With the 1972 Olympic Games, sex work and red-light bars were banned from the old town. The gay community also experienced repression as a result.
Although they are hidden in the middle of the city center, they are a real gem that even many Munich residents don't know about.
There are many beautiful and quiet places opposite the Hofbräuhaus.
