Fountain with statue "De Beer" or "Habemus Ursum", by the artist Frans Vercoutere (Avelgem, 1955), who lives in Meulebeke, unveiled on 2 July 2005.
The statue refers to the noble family de Beer who previously lived in the castle Ter Borcht, owned the lordship - later barony - of Meulebeke from the end of the 15th century to the end of the 18th century and left an important mark on Meulebeke's history, see for example the family crest that is included in the municipal coat of arms. The swan at the end of the sceptre refers to the coat of arms of the well-known painter-writer Karel van Mander (Meulebeke, 1548 - Amsterdam, 1606)
