The Hercules disaster is an aircraft crash that occurred on July 15, 1996, at Eindhoven Air Base. The crash involving the Belgian C-130 Hercules claimed the lives of 34 people on board.
In 1997, a memorial and monument, designed by Hans van Eerd, were opened at Eindhoven Air Base. It is only accessible to relatives.
On July 15, 2016, exactly 20 years after the disaster, a public monument, also designed by Hans van Eerd, was unveiled at Eindhoven City Hall. Unlike the first monument, this one is open to everyone.
