Ruin of a baroque round church of the Asam brothers from the 18th century above a hillside source, which according to legend was "awakened" by Freisinger's patron saint Korbinian around 770 and is still splashing in a gallery today. Above it on the ridge was the monastery of Weihenstephan, a nucleus of the Christianization of Europe. There are still rumors (or hopes) that Charlemagne was born here, but there is no evidence. In any case, a very historical place in the middle of the lush forest of the Weihenstephan southern slope.

The St. Korbinian Chapel or Asam Chapel was a chapel on the southern slope of the Weihenstephaner Berg in Freising, which stood above a spring, the Korbiniansbrünnlein. The ruins have been preserved and can be reached via the footpaths of the Weihenstephan southern slope. For a few years now there have been stairs again, from the courtyard garden down to the Korbiniansbrünnlein.

This old ruin of a chapel has an interesting history and is located directly at Weihenstephan. The worth knowing signs, the narrow paths and the worthwhile view make this place definitely worth a detour. The ruin is relatively easy to reach and can be visited without special equipment. Some paths are a bit steep but otherwise you can get there easily.
