The lock Ahsen belongs to the fifth of the six channel stages of the Wesel-Datteln-Kanal and overcomes a height difference of 7.50 meters. The large lock was built between 1925 and 1927 with a length of 222 meters and a width of 12 meters. It was put into operation in 1931 together with the Wesel-Datteln-Kanal. The lock is enclosed by two lifting gates, which were renewed in the 1990s. The small lock with a length of 112 meters and a width of 11.83 meters was built in 1970 with a Hubsenktor on the upper water and a sliding gate at the underwater.

We have chosen a nice spot overlooking the lock and canal and made a break. Is super nice 😊 and it will not be boring, I can only recommend !!!
