The Laghi basin, at the foot of Mount Maggio and Mount Majo, has always been a border area: first between the Kingdom of Italy and the Austro-Hungarian Empire; now between Veneto and Trentino. With the advance of the massive Strafexpedition of 1916, when the imperial troops attempted to invade the plain, the entire valley found itself just steps away from the enemy, and the inhabitants were forced into a mass exodus with just hours' notice. The basin, occupied by the Austrians until the end of the war, was heavily bombed by the Italians.

This small field cemetery, located on a terrace overlooking the Molini district, housed the remains of 48 Kaiserjaegers (Tyrolean imperial soldiers) until 1928, when they were later transferred to the Santissima Trinità cemetery in Schio. All the crosses are labeled 'Unbekannten Soldaten' (unknown soldiers), except for two bearing the names of Anton Burgmann and Vitus Hofer. The area was restored in 1994, with the erection of a black cross similar to the one seen in a 1919 photo.
