Mickey Creek trackhead is the entry point for exploring the outer sandstone marvels of Carnarvon National Park. There is a car park at the trackhead and signage. It is a popular track with visitors because it grants quick entry to some of the park's narrowest slot canyons without requiring the multi-kilometre treks typical of the main gorge system. From here, bushwalkers follow a well-maintained, mostly flat path that winds parallel to Mickey Creek for about one kilometre before the trail splits into two distinct, branches, and the off track travel into the gorges begin.
