Boolimba Bluff walk branches off the Main Gorge track about a kilometre from the visitor area, climbing 200 metres above Carnarvon Creek to the only formed lookout track leading out of the gorge. It’s a relatively challenging return that passes through fern-filled forest and rocky outcrops dotted with giant boulders before the final steep push, with around 300 metres of steps and short ladders that cut into the cliff. Early morning is the best time to tackle it, both for the cooler conditions and the light that catches on the sandstone on the way up.
