The bridge forms a transition between Ulm and Neu-Ulm. In addition, it is a connection for walking, e.g. from the main train station to the "Donaubad" or the nearby ice rink "Donau-Ice-Dome".

Here the main line of the railway towards Munich leads over the Danube. Pedestrians also have the option of crossing here with an actually beautiful view over the Danube to the city walls, the old town and of course the Ulm Minster.
