In the first part, from the former city wall, this stream is called exactly "Mühlengrube". In the second part it is called "Fresh Pit" and in the last part "Round Pit" before it flows into the "Old Port".
This "pit" was built in the Middle Ages to supply water and as a transport route for the many Wismar brewers. The mill pond has a second outflow, the natural but channeled "Wallensteingraben".
