The sculpture “The Tug of War” on the Marien church tower in Wismar was created by the Wismar-born sculptor Prof. Karl-Henning Seemann in 1985/87. This sculpture offers viewers a lot of freedom for their own interpretations. It symbolizes the joint struggle for the best solution. As the artist himself noted: “Everyone pulls on the same rope. If one loses one, the whole thing falls over the horizon.” The sculpture has stood in front of the church tower of St. Marien since 2005 and is an expression of movement and power.
