SORRY, this is NOT a "hiking highlight". It says in large letters: "Unauthorized persons are not allowed to enter." And on the website we read: "The Melbgarten is generally not open to the public. However, every spring the Melbgarten is opened with an" Open House "". In other words: visitors are only allowed in on one day a year; Hardly anything can be seen from the outside. SORRY, not a hiking highlight, and hikers who expect this into their tour (like me ...) will be disappointed 364 days a year.

Towards the end of the Second World War, the city of Bonn gave the university an idyllically situated area in the Melb valley for test facilities. Above all, plants from Georgia and China found a new home here.
Once a year - usually in spring - the collections of Asian trees, hardy camellias and Georgian plants are also open to the public.
