  • The headbooks are witness to a historical forest management. For firewood, the trees were cut off at about 2m height. This meant that cattle driven into the forest could not eat the renewable shoots. The trees are absolutely worth seeing.

    The 150-250 year old head beeches come from the time before the brand was split when forest pastures were still in use. The leafy branches were dried and served as winter fodder for the cattle (hay substitute)
