The pilgrimage chapel of Saint Oranna near Berus reflects the special veneration of Saint Oranna as the patron saint of the Saarland-Lorraine border region. According to tradition, Oranna, who lived as a hermit and came to the Saar in the 7th century, worked as a missionary and bearer of the Christian faith here in our homeland. Buried together with her companion Cyrilla in a shared sarcophagus, she found her final resting place in the parish church of the long-vanished village of Eschweiler, the site of today's Oranna Chapel.
