The theses door at the Castle Church in Wittenberg is one of the most important sights in Wittenberg. The theses door was originally made of wood and Martin Luther is said to have nailed his 95 theses here on the eve of All Saints Day, which set the Reformation in motion.
The original theses door burned in 1760. The two-winged bronze door, as it can still be seen today, dates from 1858 and was a gift from the Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm IV. The theses are in Latin script and were originally gilded.
