The obelisk in Boulogne-sur-Mer is a monument located on the Place Dalton, in the center of the town. The obelisk was erected in 1865 in honor of Auguste Mariette, a French Egyptologist who was born in Boulogne-sur-Mer. He was the founder of the Egyptian Museum in Cairo and the discoverer of the Serapeum of Saqqara.
