Le Portel, The city of three fortresses... With the Fort de l'Huert, the Fort du Mont de Couppes and the Fort d'Alprech, Le Portel is well protected! The first two forts were built by Napoleon during the camp of Boulogne. The Fort d'Alprech was built a little later. Built during the Third Republic from 1875 to 1880 under Genius General Séré de Rivières, the fort has casemates with room for a hundred men, storage areas and a powder magazine.
