Here at the left city wall, a red painted stone in the form of a shoe immediately catches the eye, to which the following legend is told:

One day, the burgrave decided to build a castle chapel in Nabburg for himself and his servants. The burgrave had his planter make a plan. Then he ordered to start building the church immediately. After a few years, the master builder completed his work. Now the burgrave invited all knights and noblemen from the area to consecrate the church. The Bishop of Regensburg was to make the solemn consecration. When the festive day had approached and the distinguished guests gathered at the newly built chapel, the devil sat angry at the Rotbühl and considered how he could prevent the consecration of the church. As a spirit of evil, he was forbidden to enter the sanctuary. So he could only observe the sacred action from a distance. As the bishop raised his hands to bless the new church, the devil seized a raging fury. He tore the left shoe from his foot and threw it with tremendous force against the chapel. The shoe missed his goal, however. He flew in a high arc against the city wall and dug himself into the walls, where he is still visible today.

A red shoe in the city wall, this is said to have thrown the devil against the city wall when the church was inaugurated.
