Bats have found a home here in the Great Borkenhaus. It was originally built in 1817 in half-timbered style with arcades by the sculptor Christian Philipp Wolff. The current building is a replacement from the early 20th century.

The large bark house, with its brick walls, appears rather inconspicuous from the outside. However, the inside is lined with bark, providing a summer home for the common sycamore bat. It's a great place to take shelter during rainy weather.
