The tavern for the city of Rome is next to the Roman bath the oldest horticultural work of the "Dörfles". Construction began in 1776. It was located on the so-called market square, the center of festivals and fairs.

The back of the inn leaned against three high arches, which were called "the arches of Nero's Golden House" because of their distant resemblance. From the house, which contained an oval hall as well as a red and a yellow room as well as a farmhouse parlor, one reached the viewing platform over the arches.

Eduard Mörike lived there around 1830 and here he completed the novel "Maler Nolten", which has echoes of the "Dörfle". In 1937 the southwest German bird sanctuary was housed there and a ceramic workshop until 1964. The rooms have been used by the horticultural school since 1965.
