In 1696, the then owner of the town, Georg Ernst von Borau, built the castle. Over the next 200 years, the castle changed hands frequently. The last owner before the Second World War was Emil Harz. The property was not subject to land reform. The former farmyard was used by the Riesa-Göhlis public estate from 1950 onwards. After 1945, the castle was used as a kindergarten, apartment and municipal office. After reunification, it was sold and is privately owned in 2014.
