The historic Bishop's Palace stretches out next to the cathedral, filling an entire side of the street. A striking, free-standing gable section with tracery windows is the remains of the council chamber in which Joan of Arc was sentenced to be burned at the stake in 1431. Today, the building houses a museum in honor of the French national saint.
