The Old Scheldt is a 6 km long tributary of the Scheldt. The Binnendijkstraat and the Appeldijkstraat run parallel to the Oude Scheldearm.
Along the slightly elevated dikes, you walk past swamp forests and pass the Castle of Marnix de Sainte-Aldegonde.
In the summer period you have little insight into the castle. Every season has its advantages. In winter you can admire the beautiful castle from afar.
Many fishermen's huts have been erected on the banks of the Oude Scheldearm. The closer to the center of Weert, the more old and renovated holiday homes flank the route.
A quiet spot and a beautiful view of the Old Scheldt are offered for free in the old Rectory Garden in the center. From the Appeldijkstraat you no longer have a view of the Oude Scheldearm. This right is reserved for affiliated club anglers.
