After the intention was launched in 1959 to make roof windows of plastic, Meipoortstraat 39k became Ubbink's first plastic production location. The company grew and grew, so that the building in the center of Doesburg soon became too small. When in 1966 it became possible to buy a plot of land on Verhuellweg, Ubbink seized the opportunity and moved from the center to the north of the city.

Ubbink kept the production location at Meipoortstraat 39k until 1973 for the polyester department, which eventually also moved to Verhuellweg. Today the Gilde Café is located there.
